High LDL Cholesterol - One of the Main Causes for Heart Attack
One of the main reasons for heart disease leading to heart attack is the LDL cholesterol or the bad cholesterol. People who have normal levels of LDL cholesterol or just a little high LDL cholesterol levels will and can develop into atherosclerosis and heart attacks. This is because LDL cholesterol coats the insides of the arteries with fat narrowing them by building debris on the inside of the arteries. LDL Cholesterol - The Silent Killer There is no guarantee to lower this LDL cholesterol level once you have high level so as to prevent atherosclerosis and/or heart attack. The person can still develop gradual atherosclerosis and still experienced mild heart attacks even though the patient takes the right medication, followed the right diet, exercise regime very seriously and were able to lower and keep your LDL cholesterol at the lowest possible levels. Even when the patient does not indulge in any vice such as smoking, drinking of alcohol, etc, this will still happen. It seems like reducing the LDL cholesterol will solve the problem. But it cannot be stopped by only reducing LDL cholesterol levels once the thickening of the arteries start. It requires something to stop the atherosclerosis process to lower the risk of heart attack. The only possibility is the increasing of the HDL cholesterol. The good cholesterol (HDL) is known to remove fat debris that has settled on the inside walls of the arteries, hence cleaning away the path and enable free flow of blood. The HDL also picks up fat and other particles from the sick arteries and then delivers to the liver where it breaks them down and remove them out of the system. Therefore in order to prevent the dangers of heart disease and possible heart attack, it is a must to avoid formation of LDL cholesterol initially. Secondly, it is always good to have high levels of good cholesterol (HDL) due to it ability to remove the debris of the arteries and thus keeping the cardio-vascular system safe and sound. Studies done to date have clearly shown that high LDL cholesterol level can be very dangerous. The only solution to fight against heart disease is to keep the LDL cholesterol levels at the possible lowest in the blood and actively increase the formation of HDL cholesterol.
